DEFINITION

Zoonoses are infection that are transmitted in nature between vertebrate animals and man.
They include those infection that man acquires from lowes animals as well as infections that can be transmitted from man to lower animal.

ETIOLOGY:

Trichuris trichiura

CLINICAL FINDINGS
Symptoms and signs

Asymptomatic
Abdominal cramps
Tenesmus
Diarrhea
Distention
Flatulence
Nausea
Vomiting
Weight loss
Rectal prolapse
Hematochezia
Appendicitis

TREATMENT

Mebendazole, 2 x 100 mg/daily/ 1×500 mg
Albendazole, single dose of 400 mg ->2-3 days
Flubendazole, 100 mg
Oxanthel pamoate, 15 mg/kgbw/daily For 2-5 days

PROGNOSIS

Mostly good

ENTEROBIASIS

ETIOLOGY:

Enterobius vermiculari

PATHOGENESIS

Enterobius causes mechanical injury to the colonic mocosa
The gravid female pinworms, detached from the colonic mucosa, actively pass out of the anus and lay sticky eggs cover

The perianal skin -> pruritus ani -> perianal eczematous dermatitis
CLINICAL FINDINGS
Symptoms

Asymptomatic
Perianal pruritus ( particularli at night)
Insomnia
Restlessness
Enuresisà ngompol
Irritability
Scowling sensation in the anal area
